Sculptra® (poly-L-lactic acid) is a dermal injection where collagen stimulation is the difference. Sculptra® works by gradually boosting the natural production of collagen within the skin cells, which causes your skin to tighten, reducing fine lines and wrinkles, and restoring contour and volume to the face. It is often considered the secret to youthful looking skin.
Sculptra® is recommended for adults who are displaying signs of aging, such as volume loss and wrinkles developing in the face. Suitable candidates are in good general health and wish to improve the overall shape of their face without undergoing plastic surgery. The goal is to get closer to a more triangular shape of a youthful face.
Our recommendations are generally to treat with one vial of Sculptra per decade of life for initial treatment. This means a 40-year-old would most often start with 4 vials of Sculptra. During each session, one to two vials of Sculptra is injected. Initial sessions are performed 4 to 8 weeks apart. Touch-up sessions of one or two vials are done annually or every two years. After your Sculptra injection, for best results, it is a must that you massage the treated area in firm circular motions for five minutes, five times daily for five days.
Sculptra® differs from other traditional dermal fillers because it offers results that improve gradually, usually over 90 days. You may still look the same a few days after your treatment. The results rely on the boosted production of collagen that, over time, enhances natural skin contour and appearance.
Yes! Dr. Saluja does perform buttock lift, augmentation, and correction of posterior thigh and buttock dimpling with Sculptra® (Sculptra® Butt Lift or Sculptra® Butt Injections). This can be a very satisfying area of treatment for patients. The amount, dilution, and depth of injection of Sculptra® varies depending on your particular concerns. An examination, evaluation, and consultation are advised to discuss this in more detail and formulate your action plan.
Sculptra® works by penetrating deep in the skin cells to stimulate the collagen receptors and boost their productions levels. Collagen is responsible for improving volume and elasticity in the skin. Improved collagen production means firmer skin and a naturally more youthful appearance.
During your initial consultation at our office, you will discuss your medical history, any allergies, illness, or relevant health information that the doctor should know. Patients who have undergone similar dermal injections should wait the recommended amount of time before receiving Sculptra® treatments. You may need to suspend the use of certain medications, such as blood thinners, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), ibuprofen, aspirin, and supplements, including vitamin E and St. John’s Wort, prior to the procedure.
To reduce potential discomfort, a topical anesthetic cream will be applied to the target areas for one hour. The Sculptra® formula is mixed prior to your visit and injected below the skin’s surface in strategic areas to reduce wrinkles and restore volume to the face. Bruising and swelling up to one week is possible. The number of treatments required to see the desired result will vary from patient to patient.
The cost of Sculptra® will vary on a case-by-case basis depending on the number of vials needed. To help ensure everyone can enjoy Sculptra® dermal injections, Dermatology + Plastic Surgery accepts a variety of payment options.
